thanks guys
OK so what's close to home for you. When I'm searching for stuff I'll check your area out too. Probably not practical economically to ship one since they are so heavy the shipping costs are not going to be cheap. Oh yea, check ebay too. Since a lot of these are local pickup only it tends to keep the price down.

Depending on the compressor 5 hp might be enough, mine is certainly enough since they rate the 17cfm at 175psi. Also don't be afraid of the age of many of these, I was reading one of the machinists sites and some of the guys have commercial units that are going on 50 plus years of constant service. Parts are also available for most of these units.

I bought ONE compressor 17 years ago. 80 gallon cast iron USA made. I will never need to buy another one....If I do I will need a forklift to move the old one out.

The basic formula is figure out how big you need, then double that.

Mine weighs just short of 1,000 lbs, used a good piano dolly (4 wheel dolly) and 4 men counting me.

I used a jet ski trailer for mine. Picked the front of the trailer up until it was vertical, strapped the compressor to it then just lowered the trailer. When I got home I did the opposite. Then just walked the compressor the 8' into the corner. Only needed someone to hold/balance the trailer while I got the straps around it.

When I pulled up to get the compressor the seller was shaking his head saying no way,the trailer was too small. Carries my son's 1000lb boat so I knew the compressor would be no big deal. I think he was still in shock when I drove away with it.

No, I was younger then and had gravity on my side to unload it.
