That sounds like some great ingenuity in how to hook up a modern CD amd have it seem as if the old AM radio is operating that great sound. You are to be commended.

 

Yeah, i think thats a great idea. I have a aftermarket stereo mounted under my dash. I would consider doing that, but right now im being lazy and dont want to get under the dash. Good Job!

 

Well I am real close now. The bracket I made mounts To the front flange and runs back to the top of the heater. (It took some notching and tapering) It is also .4" thicker in the front to raise the screen above the hinge. I then mounted a universal under the dash housing up side down to that bracket and cut the cardboard insert to allow the bracket and cd player housing to run through the back. The new cd player comes in monday. All I have to do now is plug the new head unit in and Ill have it all finished relay and all. Here are the pics of the housing/ bracket in the car.
