fuel pump question
I plan on replacing what I've been told is a 1 bbl holley carb on my 66 200 mustang back to an original autolite carb. It's actually the Pony carbs updated version of the same carb, but I'm wondering if I should replace the fuel pump when I'm doing this or should I just leave well enough alone? The car's been sitting for quite some time. It'd been sitting for a couple years before I bought it and has basically sat the last 3 years I've been restoring it. Any thoughts? Is this hard to do? I watched the installation video for the new carb that came with it and I can't remember but I think they said replacing it was a good idea.
The rubber diaphragm in mechanical pumps fail w/ time. Good to replace or keep spare pump/diaphragm in trunk.
Any time rubber components of fuel line is disturbed you should have filter downstream to collect freed particles.
