Default Suspension

Evening all, I am looking at the next project for my 65 coupe to be the suspension and I need some opinions. My overall plan is to replace the rear leafs and shackles with the 5 leaf kit with the 1" drop from CJ's. I was also planning to replace the front upper and lowers with oem style and using a 1" shorter spring. Does this sound reasonable? Do I need to do both at the same time?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Yeah that sounds fine it should tighten things up a bit if the LCA and UCA are worn.

I would do the front first so it doesn't drive around squatting.

do what gunjam is telling you im getting alot of feedback on my 65 mustang coupe from him and quite a few others, this forum has helped me alot, i have been told on the lowers to lower the car down before you tighten the lower control arm bolt that bolts a arm to frame bracket so it dont twist the bushing, if your going to the extent like i am im replacing everything suspension wise shocks, springs, leafs spring perches i mean everything, just like you are the only thing im not replacing (i hope) is the front springs but while i have everything out i may just spend the money and get them and sell my old ones for like 20-30 bucks each+ shipping, nothing is wrong with them at all im just doing it for a peice of mind issue is all i bought the car for my wife and i want it to be perfect! :0 )

Thanks Gun.

Pretty much what I'm doing Mike. I figured I would get the coil springs while I had everything apart.

1) I would reconsider the 5 leaf rears. They're going to be very stiff. I have 4.5 leaf mid-eye springs and I'm pretty happy with them. They're very firm (firmer than many would like) without being jarring, and they handle corners great.

2) Get some roller perches and do the Shelby drop while you have the front end apart. You'll appreciate it.
