Default 1973 351C cam question

I am looking to do a cam upgrade on my 1971 351 2V Cleveland. What would you recommend without upgrading the heads, etc.? I am alos looking to get a 4 barrel on it this winter. Right now it is pretty stock but want to wake it up a little.

Thanks

I'd use the hydraulic CobraJet cam.

Cam makers will provide a summary of the intended use for each model and the basic set they work best with. You to pick a cam that complements your overall set up. I like CompCams for one. I'm assuming you are pretty much stock so check out the 268H to start. If you have a stick &/and a little more gear in the rear then the Magnum 270H is worth a look. Complement that with a dual plane aluminum intake topped with a 600 cfm carb w/ vacuum secondaries. Edelbrock Performer 2V or Weiand has a dual plane that shows 351M but is not referencing the Clevand? They also have a single plane that has a broad power range. Could be good option if you plan to keep performance modding. On my 73 I was happy with my 2V dual plane intake with 600cfm carb, full exhaust, 350 gears, mild head work and high stall converter. Mid to low 14's in the 1/4. its been off the road for too many years now.

cyprus: first time i see your car. looks sweet. with that weather you have to take a picture with the roof down :-) and quarter window down. I hate pictuires of mustangs with roof down and quarter windows up. looks to me like someone carries two glassblade fins around

Not sure, I estimated it around 350. As you know the '73 is quite the boat
My sportsroof w/ foldown rear seat is approx 3,800 with driver. Torque is your friend to get these babys off the line, don't be to concerened with HP. Also, I was running street slicks.

I want my rear end to be all over the place. I mean with my stock 302 its very torqy, i cant imagine how it would be with the built up 351. I wont do too much to it, just want lots of TORQUE!

Consider adding a high stall torque converter to that C4 that matches your power band. That way when you stomp on the gas the engine will jump right into the power band, no waiting on the rpm's to build up. Or you could install a nitrous system but be sure the trans is up to it.
