65' Temp gauge problem....
The temp gauge keeps going to full hot as soon as I turn the key over. The car is cold but the gauge shows hot. I have changed the sensor and volt reg behind the dash. What I have noticed also is that the fuel gauge does to same thing. I'm not sure of the fuel capacity but I don't believe it close to full. I was told to check the cluster too see if properly grounded.. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time..
i don't know this particular problem, but i do know that grounding can indeed have a strange effect on gauges. or it might be a water leak from somewhere that is corroding the connections, either behind the dash or at the sensors....
might be worth checking out, hope it helped...

Gordon....take the gauge pod out and inspect all the connections to all gauges. Sometimes time and humidity will cause corrosion which will give you the symptoms you are describing. Take all the connections off one at a time and lightly sand or wire brush them to make sure positive contact is evident. It is unlikely that your heat and fuel gauge have both gone south at the same time, but is possible. After a thorough cleaning, and they still don't work, then consider replacing them.
Thnaks guys for the tips.. I'll be diggin in it again this weekend. There has to be a green wire ground on the back of the cluster that is attached to a body ground. I looked at a 67' dash cluster today and saw that green ground wire but it went to a harness plug. 65's have no plugs...
