had a vacuum leak between the spacer and manifold, went to part shop bought a gasket for 2$ last one they had, came back took off carb replaced gasket and after putting spacer on low and behold between the carb and spacer there were 2 gaskets stuck together :P same ones used for spacer/manifold Oh well at least the gasket wasnt too expensive.

before changing i could hear the rpms jumpin around pretty bad, sprayed carb cleaner and rpms jumped, now its idleing perfectly.

~thanks to whoever suggested this, cant remeber who and too lazy to check, probably JP, so thanks

paint time, not taking it to a shop, i want to paint it myself. i already have the sprayer and compressor, i was told i would need a gallon of paint, would i also need a gallon of clear? or less?

im planning on painting it the turquoise it used to be, as all the door jambs and trunk are all painted this color.

what kind of paint do you guys suggest for better then 400$ maaco paint job but not amazing quality.

im not looking to spend more then 5-600$ on materials, if possible.

You should look at doing a single stage paint. Its really cheap comes out nice and you can lay the paint on really thick so if you get runs plenty of material to color sand. some thing like nason by dupont weve sprayed that in are shop many times. Used even on a 69 mach 1 we did cant hardly tell that its not base clear. And if you want more shine in the future you can aways clear over it. Its a great first time paint job paint. It saves alot of money

wow cool, so no need for a clear with single stage? definitely look into this, because as i was adding up material cost it went to 500$ and was gonna keep going lol.

thanks

ya i cant remember what all you need to mix with it but its about half the price in some cases verse base clear. Its alot easer to use clear can sometimes be hard to spray for people.

I think all of my paint cost me around $360.

I used PPG Shopline base coat and HOK Kosmic Klear clear coat. My clear cost me more than my base coat did. I'm sure if I had used PPG clear it would have been cheaper.

Or this i use ppg on alot also. But if you want to paint it your self being the first time and your going to do it in a garage i would think your best bet is single stage. Its just so easy to use its almost impossible to screw up because no matter how much you run it its not that hard to color sand single stage and you dont have to worrie about cutting into the base as you would with base clear.

My grandfather did parts of his 66 in a single stage and it definitely looks good. He actually brushed it on with a foam brush instead of using a spray gun.
