let's say it does have to be a 4bbl.

a) what are the engine specs (if unsure list engine and upgrades)
b) auto or manual transmission
c) do you need a choke
d) what max safe rpm will you do with the car
e) what's the use of the car. Street only we assume.
f) auto or manual gearbox
g) how much money do you want to spend? I assume as little as possible
let's take it from there

Well It's all stock for NOW It has a c4 in it. Does have a flame thrower Distributor which is nice. It'll just be a street driver. I need a choke because it's a mission and a half just to get the damn thing started in the mornings.

pretty much what everyone has said is dead on.

However

If you plan on doing anymore upgrades in the future... i.e. heads, headers, cam, than you will be saving yourself money by getting the 4 barrell now rather than later. Anytime something needs to be replaced on my car I try to upgrade it. Did I need my 9 inch rear end 3 years ago when the rear needed to be replaced? No. But I do now. and I glad I did.

i don't remember if u already tuned idle adjust screws?

my 67 has manual choke...pure luxury

my 64.5 289 has personality...got tired of tuning auto choke...i keep choke 100% open all the time now,,,on a cold day i start it and run it 1 minute...shut it off...have cup o tea...10 min later it runs great.

I don't have a choke at all. It sucks haha. But yes down the line there will be stuff done to this car. I figured if I'm going to be buying a new carb anyways might as well bump to a 4 it's not much more and I already have the intake... Plus there will be more done to the car down the line. Just wanted everyones 2 cents is all

sounds good.

btw you can adjust idle screws to idle in the dead of winter w/o choke...just in case you decide to run the ol 2bbl before your new 4bbl arrives.

can i cast another vote for manual choke...

Yeah I have the idle set so I can start it up in the mornings... Yeah I have it all set this carb is barley hanging on.... Just making it last til I get a new one. Manual chokes are nice I just need any choke... Early in the mornings you pretty much have to floor it just to keep it started... If I can keep it running for a bit from a cold start I can jump out and hold the choke down with the air cleaner off of course.

I'll second the Autolite 4100 if you do swap to 4v.
