Default 2bbl to 4 bbl

I just bought a edelbrock 1406 carb and manifold to put on my 351 Cleveland. before I jump into this project, I was wondering if there are any "gotcha" moments I should be watching out for?

It is currently an 1973 Mustang, 351 2V A/T

Does anyone have a labeled diagram of the ford carb that shows the vacuum lines, etc?

i switched my old 70 cleveland 2 barrel to a 4 and had to advance the timing to get the bottom end back. with the 2 barrel i could light up the tires and beat most sbc with 4 barrels.

The carb should come with such instructions. They are, however, available online.

You should also connect the rest of the vacuum lines correctly, and they can be found here:

aye follow the instructions. if it's a simple carb swap that should be straight forward.

hotrod351: the 4bbl should do the same thing if not completely overcarbed. if you lost power somehwere it's rather the mixture to lean or rich, accel pump too rich or lean etc ...

Follow the correct torquing procedure when installing the new intake manifold!!!!
This is extremely important. Failure to do so could (and probably will) lead to a manifold leak and a warped manifold. Follow the order and the instructions for torque spec at each step. Do not do it without a torque wrench. This is critical.

large venturies hurt the low end power.
small venturies hurt high end power.
sometimes upgrading to 4 bbl is not all good; especially if engine can't process the additional CFM.
Not difficult to build 351 to accommodate 600 or 750 CFM; depends on your goals.
