How to swap from points?
I have a 200 6 cylinder with points. What do I need to buy to updgrade it? I am not looking for max horsepower so I don't need the top of the line but something that will be mroe reliable than the points I currently use.
I just am not sure what all I need to buy and is it something I can go get from Autozone or buy from a classic car supplier?
Thanks,

Thanks,
go autozone, napa etc and get yourself a "pertronix I"
it's a module that replaces the points for Ford stock distributors. works like a charm and is a straightforward simple swap.
there's a "pertronix II" you could buy which has bit more fucntionality like adaptive dwell and a shotoff when ignition is left on (leaving ignition on kills coils and points). However when you use that you should bypass the resistor wire, so you would have to take the dash out for that.the bypass is as simple as running an additional 'normal' wire parallel to the pink resistor wire and splice it into the wire front and end. So that current will go through new cable instead of the resistor wire

I also have the Pertrionix for my 66 mustang. I have not installed it yet but it doesn't seem that difficult. There are videos on youtube that show you how to do it, and I've heard lots of good things about them. The kit is very small it is only a handful of parts. Make sure you get the right kit they have all kinds of kits. You can go to their website and see which one you need. I got mine on ebay for like $75 so I'd check there once you find out the part # you need.
