i already have a brand new crank and its actually easier and about the same price to go with a kit that i can customize... its around 500 for the kit with hyperutactic pistons clevite bearings felpro gaskets .30 over pistons and rings and also aftermarket cam! it also comes wtih all timing chains and covers and rollers. the only thing ill be missing is a block machined .30 over which is what im doing in my class in about a month just wondering if this is the right kit for my wants and needs

well since those kits don't come with any kind of crank or rods, I would wait to actually get a longblock and inspect/turn the crank to see what size bearings you'll need.

depending on what cam you go with, you'll also have to consider what kind of heads you're going to go with.

If you cared you would mic the crank and get the right size bearings, or you could slap it together with "stock" sized bearings. It's all a matter of the quality of build you're trying to achieve.

Just like some people will go dot-to-dot on the cam and be done while others will degree the cam.

i think all they're saying is it might be good to double check the crank. sometimes new cranks have journals that aren't perfect or may even be out of round.

i haven't been following this thread, but if you are asking about the kit in your Northern link, it's missing or empty as someone else mentioned.

So the answer would be the stuff in the cart is PERFECT if you need NOTHING for your motor.....

A link to a cart doesn't really work, the stuff in the "cart" is stored on your local computer via cookies, others see the cart as empty.....
