selling/purchasing vin
it's as simple as that. A Vin cannot move from one car to another. same VIN == same car. at least in Europe. Anything else is illegal.
why would you want to do that anyway?
- if you have no VIN on used car, well then keep looking under the inner fenders
- if you have good car you can use that vin.
- if you have a scrap car then put it there. scrap.
- if you have a scrap car with a VIN from a good car ... well why not build the good car and scrap the bad
- if you have a good car, why take a VIN from a scrap car?
i really don't see the point ?!

Really you can't see the point in it? Really? If i had a rusty 65 K code fastback that was so rusty it needed every panel replaced, you don't see the point in using that VIN on a super clean straight 6 body and calling the straight 6 body a replacment part? You guys believe what you want to believe as far as swapping VIN's I don't really care but I bet you change your minds when you get put in a situation where you need to do it. If you own both cars and you are not decieving anyone then what is the difference?
whats wrong with everyone? tell me now if you guys were building a car and needed a vin you wouldnt do it? nothing is illegal if there is no evidence
Lots of people do it, they just dont brag about it on the net....
...kali, ive noticed that in Europe people punch vin numbers more than they use deoderant.....hell in Cyprus the dude at the inspection station wanted me to punch vin numbers on the front chasis as i did some sheet metal work in the front and the vin was no longer there.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I would never do it. I don't look good in an orange jumpsuit.
And "nothing is illegal if there is no evidence" reminds me of something Al Capone would say.
I hope you don't do it, but if you do I hope you go to jail for it. It doesn't matter if you own both cars, VIN swapping is illegal .....

Thought about doing it myself when I found out my '67 might've had a '68 California Special VIN in the dash. Got a report from Ford and found out the VIN was for a high-optioned coupe, nothing more.
might just buy me one of these to have .... VIN Swap Kit
