Oil Pressure Question
I noticed my Oil Pressure recently read low. Its about at the white line and doesnt fluctuate with varied rpms. It was fine last time i drove the car about 2 weeks ago. It has warmed up a bit but the pump is new along with the engine being rebuilt. I drained the oil and have a new filter and sending unit on the way. I had an issue month ago where my intake manifold didnt set right and i got some radiator fluid in the cylinders on one side and i dried the cylinders but im sure a little radiator fluid got down into the oil. I ran the car a few times no problems so it was a tiny bit if any but what i want to know is could that have made the oil clog up the sending unit. I dont know how old the sending unit is either im sure its overdue for a change but i just want to rule everything else out. Im hoping i dont need to take the pan off and check the oil pump. Thanks

You sure its not the Gauge its self? their not known for being the most reliable parts.
its probably not the radiator fluid, as im assuming it would evaporate. check the dipstick, if the oil level is fine and the car runs fine then its probably the gauge, if you had low oil pressure wouldnt your temperature get really high?

the oil wasnt milky so thats always a good sign and i didnt think of the gauge. My car runs around 200 give or take but i have an electric fan. I havent noticed it running any hotter. My lifters make some noise but they have since i rebuilt engine and ive adjusted them. I think they are going to make a little noise because its after market rocker arms and heads.
I always recommend a mechanical gauge, either permanent or just temporary if you are curious. You should have roughly 10psi of oil pressure for every 100 hp at cruise rpm. Oil pressure will always be a little low at idle, especially if you are not running an aftermarket high volume pump.
