A flex fan will actually fit where an electric won't... Jim used what I want to say is a Zirgo low-pro unit that moves 3,000 cfm, he had a little more room than you and we managed to shoehorn in a 3.5" thick fan by working around the waterpump pulley just a little.....

To actually fit in 3.25", your choices are a little more limited....

Actually Jim probably had closer to 3.25" also, by slightly offsetting the motor and the w/p pulley it did fit.

IMO, you need to get something (or a combo) that will move at least 2,000 cfm....

I have a flex fan already, and really don't think it is ideal. It doesn't move enough air at idle especially for the AC when sitting in traffic. Its a little noisy. I have not really heard any good comments about flex fans, only negative ones.

Its too bad none of those Be Cool fans move 2000 cfm or higher.

JMD, to be honest I haven't looked that hard at fans yet, thanks for helping me do my research.

Does anyone know the space required for the thermo-clutch fan? That is really my preference.

tx65coupe, where in Texas are you located? I'm in SW Houston/Sugar Land area.

I am sure this is not an "apples to apples" (serpentine) comparison to your situation, but this fan from w/p flange to front of clutch is 3", I had to use a 1" spacer to get fan blades to a/c compressor clearance. The fan is in a space of 5" from w/p flange to face of radiator. I have about 1" clearance between rad and fan blades.

I seem to remember looking for the most compact solution I could find.

(With a little coaxing, the Summit website will supply some very helpful dimensions for finding parts that will fit.... )

IMO if the spacer could be eliminated, (which it could be if I removed the compressor and alternator pulley covers, ) it would be easy to fit the combo into a 4" space, 3 1/2" probably,,,, 3 1/4" whew... maybe, if everything worked out perfectly.....

On this engine there is exactly 12" between the front edge of the block (w/p mounting surface) and the radiator.

What is the width of your radiator core? Dual fans will eliminate your clearance issue with the water pump, since the motors will no longer be centered on the radiator.

I had a Zirgo Extreme Cool on my car previously, which they claimed was 3000 cfm. Full of crap and would be lucky to push 1500 cfm.

I wouldn't mind having a fan like that. Do you have a part number for the fan and clutch? I'm assuming its reverse rotation since its a gold fan, is that true?
