The I6 rear springs were known to be trash, most were sagging within three years after the cars left the factory. If yours are original, they have probably been trashed for over 40 years. New GT springs with all the attaching hardware cost less than $200, and since you are probably using modern radial tires, you need better springs anyway. I mean seriously, have you ever seen original 65-66 tires?

I have the same annoying problem, only in the opposite direction. My 68 coupe leans to the drivers side quite noticeably and its not the leafs. Ive replaced them to no avail, and then swapped them to opposite sides with no difference as well. It bugs the crap out of me but i have no idea what the issue is and have just accepted it over time. Ive seen several other classics with the leftward lean too, so that gives me a little comfort, but not really.

Mustangs are famous for their various leans. I attribute it to the fact that they were essentially thrown together at the factory. Selling a million in the first 18 months tends to hurry the assembly line along.

What can you do? Accept it like the rest of us. No disrespect intended.

Or you can break out the check book. One way is to convert to coil overs and custom cut each spring to achieve the ride height you want. I don't know if those air bag suspensions will allow individual ride height adjustments.

It's almost certain that the lean is due to something in the front end, which has much stronger springs. The slightest difference in the coils will cause a lean. Then of course there's twisted sway bars, bent control arms…

Its hard to say whats causing it, but get those air shocks off as soon as possible. Any combination of worn or damaged suspension components could cause it.
