Default Another Transmission Question

http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/pts/2463788961.html

Seems to be a decent deal, curious if it could handle 325-350 hp. It would be the first step in my process to switch over to a manual. What are your thoughts?

its not gonna bolt to a 289/302/351 motor...you could use a v6 t5 transmission from those years though...

There are some good write ups in the FAQ on this forum for doing the transmission swap. Here is the link http://midnightdsigns.com/james/FAQs.htm Educate yourself and then come back with any questions you have. I recommend using a T-5 bell housing and a stock 70 Mustang clutch linkage. I have done 5 of these swaps now.

So after doing some reading, here is a question there was information on the starters that could be used for the t5 swap and that in the 289-302s. What type of starter can I use for a 351w? Would I need to buy a ministarter to make sure it clears or can I get away with using a stock one?

The starter you will need will be the starter that matches the number of teeth on the fly wheel. In short, a stock starter will work as long as it matches the teeth count. No mini starter needed. Another good source of information is these guys http://moderndriveline.com/

67 I have the following parts collected for my t5 swap, 1969 clutch pedal and all linkage off of a 3spd car. Springs are all accounted for. After doing some reading I am now thinking that a clutch cable will be the way to go even though I have all the orginal linkage. Also, what sort of adapters are needed to use the orginal bellhousing from the 3spd?

If you are gong to use a cable clutch it will be much easier if you use a T5 bell housing since it is already set up for a cable clutch. The adapter you will need if you are using the original 3/4 speed bell housing is the one that goes between the trans and the bell housing http://www.cjponyparts.com/TREMEC-AD...-1973/p/T5AP2/ Life will be made much easier for you if you use the stock Z bar and linkage with the stock bell housing. If you go that way.
