Default e6 heads

I have a 90 5.0 roller motor that I am going to redo with .030 pistons, cam performer manifold with 600cfm, roller rockers.. the only issue is the heads are the e6 heart shaped chambers. I read somewhere that these heads are good for torque and you can make some better horsepower by unshrouding the valves. Don't have money for a good set of heads and I will do the porting at home. Does anyone have any constructive comments about doing this, pictures, how much do you take off the heart shape? I know alot of people think the a junk for heads but you gotta work with what you have on hand sometimes. thanks

The real killer on the stock windsor heads are the exaust ports. This is a good link for porting the exaust ports. Also a link to the boss 302 distributor specs that you might be able to use depending on what distributor you use. Thesse plus what you have already listed should get you around 300 HP and you will have a fun and reliable engine to play with. It wont be an 8 second beast but it will be fun to drive. Also keep an eye on craigslist you might be able to find a set of iron GT40 heads for a couple hundred bucks.
