Default 347 - HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY

I got a guy that has a 347 supposably 425hp but the build was done almost 5 years ago says its only done about 10000 miles scat crank world heads flat tops around 11 comp ratio and thats all he seems to know or at least want to share with me. He's asking $2500 does this sound a good deal or should I keep looking. I cant really afford to buy a ready built but was after that hp range or there abouts and I have not actually rebuilt an engine myself and dont want to try a 347 rebuild as my first maybe a stock 302 that if I do screw up wont cost me an arm and half a leg. Or if anyone knows of a better deal let me know...Thanks

$2500 for unknown parts, unknown machine work and an unknown history?

That seems high to me also for a used engine with no warranty, didn't the early 347 pistons have an issue with the wrist pin intersecting the ring groove resulting in oil burning?

I wouldnt do it. I just got a 427hp 351W turnkey from Phoenix Engine Rebuilders. You should check their site out they have a bunch of engine packages. Also many of their engines you can check out on youtube.

Thats sort of what I was thinking a bit excessive for an unknown... I was thinkin aroung $1500 would be ok but I doubt Id get it but may b worth the risk at that price
