Default Radio 101

Hey All,

I have a am/fm radio is my 68 that I got a new set of dash speakers for. Please excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to wiring everything up. Seems like it would be simple, because there are 4 colored wires coming from the back of the radio which I assume are speaker wires, a black ground, and the power. if I connect all each of the four wire to the new speaker wires I get nothing. If I attach a wire to the speaker wire, and touch it to the ground, it works. This doesn't seem right to me.

Any insight or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am not familiar with that radio, but older radios would have a common ground. Does the radio have a fader for four speakers? If so, the wires out of the back are the four positives and the negatives tie together to the black. The radio ground would be a screw in the chassis of the radio to metal. Just a guess..... You can try it this way, it wont burn anything up.

Common ground, bro. Two are for front, one ground, one power.
