Should the warranty number on the top of the data plate on the door be the same exact number as the VIN stamped on the fender apron under the hood?
Mine dont match-does this meean that the door was replaced or possible the inner fender apron was replaced? Thanks scott

more than likely the door has been replaced...the vin on the door can not be used for registration purposes(says so on the tag assuming the tag hasnt been painted over) the vin in the engine compartment has a matching vin that cant be seen with the fenders on over on the right hand apron...

Which one matches the title?

If they are close, such as "5T02C123456" and "5T02C123465", you have what's referred to as a mis-stamp.

the fender apron VIN is the on used on the title of the car. The door numbers match except for the except for the last 6 numbers...both the fender apron and door tag # start with the same ...6T08C...but then the last six # are different.

I am guessing the door was replaced because the door paint code is "A"(black) and my car is Red with no Black to be found.

how can I find out color, trim, date, and axle trans without the original door tag?
My VIN tells me ..1966,Metuchen NJ,Convertible,289 2V...which all seam correct.
I would love to find out the original trim and color.
Thanks Scott

the last 6 is the unique number to the car iirc...the first numbers are the year body style etc

You can't, except by examining the car. Ford trashed those records.
