Default approaching crank day, questions.

So i am so close to finishing up after reinstalling the engine. i ran into a bunch of issues, front pump on tranny broke, head bolt snapped, and various other small issues. but today i finished up most of the stuff i only have the muffler and transmission oil left.

so when starting a new engine what are the proper steps?

i know i have to:

prime the engine with oil using drill

what else is necessary?

also what is the proper break in procedure for a new engine?

you want to start it up and vary the speed of the engine for about 20 mins to get the rings to seat etc...make sure to keep and eye on oil pressure and water temps....

well you want it set in the ball park then after you get it cranked and running id go ahead and get it set before driving you dont want too much timing which will cause detonation and what not...

When I first did mine, I added some oil treatment with high zinc content. I wanted break in oil, but none of the local places have it. My dad ordered it from Summit when he did his engine.

If you installed a new cam & hopefully used the required cam lube follow the cam break in procedure.
