A newer one wire Alternator to replace your older three wire generator will come with an internal voltage regulator. Usually it won't charge unless it reaches above a certain RPM, which is why it will come with a smaller wheel. The alternator will put out 130amps while your older generator puts out 40 amps (I think). A real nice upgrade to your Mustang if you plan on adding more electronics, like stronger lights, electronic ignitions, radio etc.
