Oh, and I forgot to mention. I am going to go back to the stocker and put in a Pertronix ignitor kit. I hope I will have much better luck with this!

if you have a roller cam distributor then it probably cause your problems because they will eat cam gears in non roller motors...

The cam gear and distributor gear weren't the problem. If it was my motor would have never started and ran. The problem was the actual distributor shaft that slides over the oil pump shaft. The distributor shaft was rounded/stripped therefore the oil pump shaft was just spinning in there hence no pressure.

Good find. You could have easily lost an engine.

I have the stock distributor yet and even compared the drive gears on both and can clearly see the HEI is rounded compared to the good stock one.

Now the very frustrating part is that I have only put 3,000 miles on this car since installing the HEI. I have already put in a phone call to Summit Racing, where I purchased it, and was given the phone number to the manufacturer. They claim they have never heard of this happening and want me to mail it in to them for inspection so I figure I will do this since I have nothing to loose. Either way, I will never put a Proform HEI on anything I own again.
edit: nvm, I don't know what actually caused the problem so I'm not going to assume and talk down about any companies

Well unfortunately I did lose the engine the first time. I had to replace my crank and all bearings. Luckily upon start up of the rebuild I caught the no pressure right away and shut it down. So yes, I could have lost another engine in the process if I had lacked to pay attention.

Did you ever start that engine in the cold Nebraska winter? Thick oil + lots of drag + Chinese distributor might = no oil pressure....

I try to avoid the ProForm (ProComp) stuff. IMHO It is designed and built to be sold cheap. I am not slamming the company, they are giving the people what they think they want....

Hey, it's just a distributor, worst thing that can happen is you might loose spark....... uhhh. never mind...

Sorry, I couldn't help it....

Sometimes education can be costly... (I have learned things the "expensive way" lots of times myself).
