9" Rearend Housing?

9" Rearend Housing?
Im looking for a 9" rearend for my 67 coupe. I have referenced and found that the proper length is 59.25" flange to flange.
I found this one on a local site and Im having trouble ID'ing it. The fella that is selling it says that it is 60" from backing plate. He also stated that he compared it to his 69 mustangs 8" and the 9" was 3 inches longer on each side. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any 67-70 Mustang or cougar will work for what you need. If the guy is saying 3 inches longer on each side it sounds like it might be a truck rear end. That is really long. I would say keep looking. You will find one. Also the 8 and 9 inch shared axles so if you have an 8 now the axles may swap over to your new 9. That is provided that the spline count is the same.

I wonder if he's measuring from the same place you are? Hard to tell by the pic but they got wider for '71-'73. If he's close enough to drive to I'd go over and measure it yourself, measure center of leaf mounts on yours too just in case. Sure looks alot like the 9" I picked up for my '67, it came from a '69 Cougar:

im 99% positive 59.25 is the right measurement (flange to flange). all 9" rears from 67-70 fit in all mustangs/cougars...i picked up a 9" from a 69 mach1 and built it up then swapped it into my 67 coupe and it fit like a glove. i personally would try to find out what vehicle that rear is from. maybe there's an ID tag on it that you can decode? if not ur best bet is to keep looking. you dont want a truck rear. its easier to keep looking even if the wait is longer. the install process and tire clearance issues will be a lot less of a hassle.
