Sloppy steering on my '66
I had a quick question about steering...we just had a LOT of rain in the area. Before the rain she drove just fine, real snug...like on a rail. After the rain and driving thru some flooded streets she is sloppy, she pulls slightly right or left on every little bump, even the city ******* will cause her to hop around. I have to pull her back to the right or left when coming out of a turn...its definitely not like it used to be. Is this common after a lot of rain or does it seem like this might be something more serious? We've got an alignment shop here in town that I guess i'll go to, is there anything i need to ask them to do or check or make sure they do??? Thanks

There are several areas that will need to be looked at. First is to check all pivot points for wear. After any worn parts are replaced then a good alignment will put things back in order. Make sure to they check the wheel bearings and steering box also.

Sounds like it could be coincidental. Mine did that after i changed the power steering line. You can try bleeding the system. Jack the car up so there is no pressure on the wheels, take the dipstick out of the pump, and turn the steering from right to left, holding in one direction for a minute or so. You basically want the system under steering pressure. It will basically shoot any air bubbles out of the filler. Try that.
