Water pump id
Ok my stang has started to overheat, never been an issue before however I did have a hose split on me earlier in the year, and I think when that happened the spinning steam and not water has damaged the pump.
So being in the Netherlands I can't really pop the pump off and take it to the parts shop so I would like to make sure what pump I need; I know standard rotation, cast iron, lower radiator feed on passenger side. But how do I know if I need a pump with a backing plate or not and what bolt kit fits (might as well replace them at the same time? I see cast number as S1047A OR S1041A.
Cheers for the help

That hypothesis at least upon first reading does not sound plausible. Unless the pump leaks water from the front bearing or along the case I doubt anything short of rocks could have damaged it. Its like a solid chunk of iron with a stamped impeller made from 1/8 stainless steel.
It does require a back plate...I dont know about the bolts.
I do think you should look into other issues: Perhaps a stuck t-stat, improper gauge reading, low coolant level and plugged up radiator. Try to verify the temp using a non contact temp gun on the t stat housing.

Cheers Gun jam,
It is unlikely to be thermostat and temperature sensor as all new, car was overheating before and after the change, coolant level is good as changed that as well. Don't think the radiator is plugged as squeezing the bottom rad hose you can see flow through the radiator. I will check the temperature of the thermostat but it smells hot so I think it is over heating.
