Default Windshield issues

Hello all, maybe you guys can help me.

Whenever i drive in the rain or the snow my wipers have problems giving me a clear view. They don't clear the water I get a very streaky wipe and as a matter of fact I'm probably worse off than if i just left the wipers off. I've tried replacing the rubbers in the wipers, replacing the entire wiper themselves to no luck. the only success i get is if I use Rain-X but that's only a temporary fix. I'm beginning to suspect that the issue is my windshield itself. Any similar experiences out there?

Thanks

Get better wipers. It's hard to find good ones for older cars, but the cheap wipers tend to do that.

if better wipers don't do the trick maybe the glass has some kind of residue on it. try cleaning it with either white vinegar, or non suds ammonia, or rubbing alcohol.

Also, a lot of blades have a residue on them a well. I always clean the new blades with grease remover and sometimes scuff them with a green scotchbrite pad to get the mold release off them.

I forgot about that. It's also why new tires have a break in period before they get best traction....the coating for the mold.

Road tar and grime puts a film on your windshield that causes a cloudy smearing condition when the wipers are turned on. An old trick my dad taught me back at the turn of the century was tobacco. They used to put cigarette tobacco in small burlap pouches to roll your own smokes. You would get the pouch and windshield wet and wipe your windshield down. The acid in the tobacco would remove the film off the windshield. Worked everytime. My problem, I can't find those tobacco pouches any more. Another option, use 0000 steel wool and polishing compound on a wet windshield. You must keep the area wet while you work in small circular motions or you'll scratch the windshield. This is also how you remove water spots.

Just use good glass cleaner, not the cheap crap. Takes everything off.
