.
you have a bit of a cluster **** . . you need to raise the back of your trans before you do anything or it will still be a cluster ****.

the trans should be 3.5 degrees.

raising the pinion will increase the angle of the driveshaft to the trans which will increase the amount of cluster **** and vibration it probably already has . . this angle should be no more than around 3 degrees with the car in a static position and it is already at 3 degrees.

if you do not raise the trans, you are probably wasting your time, it's that simple.

if you leave the trans where it is, i would put a 4 degree wedge in the rear to bring the pinion up to 5 degrees and then pray.

That is good information to know. Is there an easy way of measuring the transmission angle? I am not 100% sure my method was the best, but the yold/DS u joint wouldn't come apart (and after realizing there are rollers in the caps I'm kinda glad). I guess I will start with shimming the transmission up as much as I can and retake measurements.

well, if your trans and trans mount are stock, it should be 3.5 degrees . . if you have a t5 trans, is will be slightly more, if you have a tko trans, it will be even more.

if you have a stock intake manifold, you can remove the carb and check it on the carb pad, otherwise yes, it is a pita to do and must be done underneath . . you can pull the driveshaft and use the end of the trans but that's also a pita.

Yea I thought about doing that, but the tailhousing seal looked like it protrudes too much to set an angle finder on the transmission. I also assumed I would lose all my atf, still running stock fmx. So the carb flange on the stock manifolds are directly level with the driveline? I might remove the carb and do it that way.

Some tail seals also have a dust boot that is not really required unless you do a lot of dirt roads.
