Hi,

I'm finishing the rebuild of my 1970 Mustang 351C-4V engine. My question concerns the R/H (passenger side) exhaust manifold. At the front of it, just by No1 cylinder, is a sheet metal "shroud" attached with a single screw. It's got a 1 1/4" hole facing forward. What is it and what is it's function? Is there anything that connects to it (the hole)?

That should be a hot air tube. Would hook to the snorkel of the air cleaner near a flapper value to let hot air to the carb in winter.

 

Yes, you are right. In my case the tube is missing between the snorkel and this sheet metal " collector" (or is it just a bracket?).
