Default Project Eleanor

So a dream came true ( still in the making) when I bought a 67 coupe with the intentions to convert it into an Eleanor.

With very basic to no knowledge about classic cars and Mustangs I am relying on expert opinions. I don't know what I've signed up for as I've not inspected the car and relying on the information provided by seller and photos shared by the shipping company. so far what I know about the car is .

1. Original 67, 8 Cyl. 289 CID, 2 barrel carburetor

2. It has no engine only transmission

Below are some of the pictures that I currently have.

This is what I want to build.

I need your opinion on what to get and where to get it from, please note the car will be restored in Dubai (UAE). but most probably I will have to source everything from the US. if anyone has experience in such a project or sourcing / delivering the parts open for suggestions/recommendations.

Default Eleanor

I don't have too much info on contacts, but see a few things to point out. First you have a coup and Eleanors are fastbacks. Other than that the floor pans look like they are sagging....rusted out. You do have a nice option in the console, the rest looks standard, steering wheel, seats, no ac, but all that can be changed in the resto.
Hope
you have a healthy budget. You can check into Mustang Plus, their inhouse name
parts seem to be a little better quality. Don't know if they would ship overseas.
Big project!!!

Its going to cost a ton I suspect you are aware of this I also suspect you have a ton to spend. If Ive guessed right then I would recommend not spending any money on that car as it is a coup and a very rough one at that. something like you see in that picture is likley near 75 to 100k USD. It would cost nearly the same for the coup but the end value would be much less with the coup.
This is a similar project built off a proper fastback.. Can give you ideas

Wow that's one heck of a project and very well done I must say, I have to admit I am no where close to having such hands-on or the knowledge about the mustangs, like I said it was a dream and the project is ON.

I don't have deep pockets to get a ready one for $100k-ish but I am willing to spend similar amount over the span of 2 years to get it to work.

Floor Panels I can say yes they will have to be completely replaced, I was thinking to get ready floor panels. (https://www.cjponyparts.com/full-flo...5-1968/p/FLP8/ )

Delivery, I am still working on logistics, I am afraid I will have to source almost all of the items from US and I need to make some really good friends with Sea Shipping companies :-)

Clearly I will not be doing this myself, so My intentions are the take the project like

Car getting here by Jan. 2020
I want to order the conversion kit ( coupe to fastback and Eleanor) should arrive by March 2020
from Jan- March, I let the guy strip the car and prepare inventory of items to order next.
I order the parts to arrive my May-June 2020 and they guy works on body work.
Parts arrive by June - July and he start setting it up.
Maybe by November - December I have it ready.

I know I make it sound so simple but attest this is in my head.

I have question about the conversion kits ( https://www.stang-aholics.com/i-3148...rsion-kit.html ) I can across this, is it recommended or anything else ?

Well if you are stuck with the car then the conversion kit is an option but it still won't have the original value of a real fastback but probably a better option than doing the coupe alone.

Its going to be a lot of money a lot of time and frustration and I know at the end of the day I personally would go wow it looks nice...humm...**** I should have started with a fastback. It would eat at me and **** me off. But thats me not you. If you dont care about resale value and you are sure that it won't bother you that you threw all that effort into that project that is a bastard car there is actually NOTHING wrong with that AT ALL. No one will know that its a coupe conversion kit unless you try to sell it. Getting that kit installed correctly will likley be the hardest part of that entire project.

Thanks Gun,

Well as of now there are no plans to sell the car, I could restore a coupe but then that's not what I will like or put my heart into. I could sell the car as it is and start looking for fastback but again 67 fastbacks are rear gems very hard to find and if you find them the price is too much to start a project with.

I know the hardest part is to get the conversion kit installed, I am speaking to a few people who have done similar projects in the past and seems to know what they are doing. Rayans rides ( https://www.facebook.com/RayansRides/) ( https://www.instagram.com/rayansrides/?hl=en ) will speak to Bear Garcia from west coast customs (
) later today to have his assessment done, he purely believes in Fabrication and no body kits he is working on an Eleanor these days so will be good to know what he has in his mind.

But I need people who know mustangs and can guide me what I should and shouldn't do.

Well if you cant get your hands on a real fastback then make the best of what you have and go for it. The conversion kit can be a good solution if done right.

There are a few conversion kits available is there any recommended one? or it all comes down to the guy who will install it.

I've started gathering parts for the project and need help in deciding the Engine.

the garage has offered 2 options.
1- 302 rebuild new 320+bhp
2- 5.0 Coyote used + transmission 410+bhp but need an engine stand-alone harness

Since I have no knowledge of the difference between the two can someone help me out here in deciding? the price difference between the 2 quoted to me around $1k.
