Default 289 dies issue HELP!

1967 289 2bll Ran great... then...

It starts and drivess great then hesitates, misses and turns off.
Then it will not start... then it will.....
Note i do not think it is heat related car sat until cold and still would not start.
Drives fine , then hesitates and misses a bit, then dies.
Not is will not start are nut at all.

I have checked -
Fuel: filter OK carb has fuel, accelerator pump working

Spark: sparks at coil when wire pulled. I have tried switching coil out with my old corvette coil - no difference (ran great for 15 minutes then stopped)

Distributor: I have recently installed a Pertronix point replacement unit in the dist. I don't know how to test that.

What am I missing? I am not an Autolite 2bbl expert.... could the carb idle and primary circuits both be fouled. It ran great when it ran.

Could fuel pump be intermittent? there is pressure in the line when it dies....

Any help would be appreciated, My wife's been giving me "that look" about the car.

when it dies if you remove the air cleaner and pull full throttle by hand do you see fuel squirt into the carb from the accelerator pump?
IF YES
pull full throttle 2 times. Using the pedal hold half throttle and attempt to start the car as normal does it start and run for a few seconds?

If you can always get the car to start after it dies using this method even if it only runs 5 seconds then its probably a fuel delivery issue with the primary or idle circuits in the carb.
If the car will not directly restart or is inconsistent using this method then its likley ignition.
If you do not see fuel squirt into the carb after the car dies and you pull full throttle the carb has no fuel in it.

Got it!!!! Crazy Issue found

I had installed a Pertronix points replacement unit in the distributor.

when I checked to voltage at the coil it was reading 6.8V. That’s fine for points but won’t fire the Pertronix.

I replaced the wire to the coil. Voltage result was 11.8 Boom!!! Running well.

i think it was just enough voltage to fire the plugs, but as the engine and wiring heated up the voltage in the coil line dropped a bit and the engine died.
