mlitz....this is a very legitimate topic.....Having a 68 I remember the first time this happened to me, I asked the same exact question. so don't call it dumb b/c i was freaking out about my paint job too especially since it was only 2 weeks old. and if you don't find this "mo intersting" then read another post.

Yeah, like everyone said just go slow, especially when you know you're almost full, and don't keep trying to top it up after it stops once, although sometimes it'll stop on it's own just for no reason (usually only when you try to pump fast)

When i had just gotten my paintjob, as long as I wiped it off relatively quickly it never did anything, however my chrome didn't like it very much, and i have seen older not-so-well taken care of cars with stains/damage from gas drippage. Just wipe real quick with one of those paper towels and you'll be good to go.

This is a legit question. It happens to me every time as well ('67). I have to park downhill when I fill up!!!
