I'm wathcing barret jackson and I see a mustang labled as a T5. They said that the mustang was sold as the T5 in europe. Anyone ever seen one of these?

 

Indeed I have ! In fact I owned a 70 T-5 fastback about 23 years ago. Apparently there was/is a truck line in Europe which bears the Mustang name. So..... Ford exported the Mustang bearing the T-5 logo. They had no " Mustang " lettering anywhere. They did bear the running horse emblems. A few of them made their way back to the states and you see them every once in a while. I looked at a brown/gold 65 or 66 a couple of months ago. It was a nice car priced in the 20's. i thought it was because of a german motorcycle manufacturer!they owned the name and ford didnt want to pay royalities

 

My research on the subject always came up truck... but that was 23 years ago and my mind is not as sharp as it once was. hell some who know me would say that it's never been. Either way Ford couldn't/wouldn't use the Mustang name because of copyright issues.
