A black paint job will last 23 seconds before you have to wipe off the dust to make it look great again. Plus, it will heat up the interior like a son-of-a-gun during the summer. Not to mention what Dan has already said. If you get those wheels back to original condition, and paint it a correct 68 color (lighter than black) you would have a very nice looking period correct Mustang, worth much more than a restomod.
yea, it may heat it up, especially if your'e in texas, but black paint on a mustang coupe with that bodystyle, makes it look like an old FBI agents car

first, check out the original color, you may like that and then that would increase the value of the car anyway. Then check out other colors you like. Get like a PPG catalog. I think its PPG, i dunno someone correct me if not. The engine looks a little dirty, and the air cleaner looks fuzzy, maybe a simple cleaing will help but the car looks good

...glossy black paint...
You're a glutton for punishment, man! You'll spend 2, 3, or 4 times as much on a black paint job. It would take forever and a day to smooth out 40 year-old panels enough. You may want to consider something a bit more forgiving (something lighter).

And as already stated - those wheels are correct for your car regardless of its other options. In the Mustang family, they're also correct for the 1969 GT and Mach I. Shine up the chrome parts and repaint the black outer rims, and you may get a couple hundred for them. They aren't rare or highly collectable - just correct for your car.
now are you saying black paint would cost more than other colors?? like nothing to do with the body work or anything just the paint....??

yeah i understand the engine is dirty and what not....air cleaner might have to go but thats not a huge deal if it cant be cleaned up....

NOW im not sure...but isnt that thing opposite of the alternator on the engine have something to do with air conditioning?

PPG is a car paint company. I don't know if they paint it for you but I think so if you find a shop.
check out their site

that thing opposite the alternator is not A/C. its the Power Steering pump. The A/C compressor would be a big rectangular box that would mount above the P/S. That car doesnt appear to be equipped with A/C but it may have originally had an A/C box that would hang under the dash under the radio

About the color issue... you could go black if you want. I had my '67 done up in black at... yep. Electro Bake. They did most of the body work (which was quite a bit) and all the paint, ant it turned out real nice, especially on the top surfaces. The sides were orange peely as ****, but my brother got the same deal on his '87 grand marquis but got wetsanding and buffing too, and it turned out to look almost like a factory paintjob

The cost was i think $1200 for body work and paint (base coat, clear coat. None of that single stage crap)

And about it being worth more as the original color... I'm gonna have to go against that. They made some ugly colors in the '60's, and the average buyer won't have any idea what color the original was, especially if most of the rest of the car isn't original.

wow only $1200.00??

my friends getting his camaro done up and hes claiming it will cost between 5 and 6 thousand for all of it....i would never go that top of the line paint job but i was thinking a lil more than $1200.00 for body and paint.

im not in florida but is there places like that out here in northern california? the way you said it makes me wonder if its similar to macco or something???? if i get the car i will prob first go around and get quotes from differnt places in town...

apparently this car already has had the bodywork done and was sprayed with primer and the guy couldnt afford paint because he bought a new house...so i dono......
