Guys its a California car I take it. They didnt have alot of rust, but they would rust in wierd places. A magnet is a good place to start. Check over the wheels, behind the wneels, look under it at the floorboards for the typical rust.

Its funny you mention gunmetal grey, we painted my brothers 68 a medium silver blue metalic and it came out real nice. I missed a few spots wet sanding, mainly around the doorhandle area and the curved spots, but you cant tell unless you look really close.

The thing about black is even from a good distance you can spot a wave in a 1/4 panel like someone is throwing rocks at you. If it isnt perfectly flat and smooth like a babys bottom you will see every ripple, every dent, every scratch you didnt sand out, and it will be visible even while driving. It will look great in the dark from 50+ feet away in the rain, but everything does short of a Neon or red primer.

I photo shopped all the junk out of the picture, but didnt change the car at all.. It wasnt the best day for pics, but it is an awesome color...

its not going to effect the car really...just gotta be careful to not flip the switch and have it in gear basically...?

Let's say you are parked and the car is not fully engaged into park but rather reverse. If you are giving it gas to start the engine and it does start, you may end up out in the street or in the rear end of someone else before you know it. The car will start in any gear if the switch is compromised. I think you understand. Good luck with the Mustang. I was 17 when I acquired my 67 and that's where it all began. That was 5 stangs and 23 years ago

yeah, The switch is on ALL the cars. And NO, you dont flip a switch, it mounts on the transmission somewhere, and registers where the shifter is.

I'm sorry I was vague. I just realized after 6mustang6 posted that you may be confused about the switch. It's not actually a switch that you turn on and off as he said. It mounts on the drivers side of the trans and is activated when the shift rod moves clockwise or counterclockwise. The shift rod goes throught the hole. It's the round device with the hole in the middle and wires hanging from it. You're reverse lights are also controlled by the switch.

if the switch breaks or falls off from old age, which mine did last year, the car wont shift into park, so if your in drive and you want to park, you can't get past nuetral, and since my car is a late model stang, it wouldnt start it up in Drive. so i had to tow it off my school campus (very embarrasing)
