the fact that us "old guys" took the smog stuff off and threw it away is EXACTLY what makes smog system components so desirable today. Dean

OK....by whom? Who do you know who will actually buy that old crap? Is it even marketable?

Nah, the kali plant put some pump and so forth on them which was the forunner for the modern day emissions systems, but they were designed to last about the life of the car which back then was about 5 years. Well, guess what? It is now 40 plus years later, and that old technolgy is not only defunct, it is inoperative, so is worthless.

Im lost as to why someone would want that stuff. I dont see many people actually paying for something that causes a power loss. To quote Larry the cable guy, its like wiping before ya poop, it just dont make sense.

Worthless ? I sold an anti backfire smog valve on ebay for over $ 200.00 about 6 months ago. Granted it was NOS and it fit a 428 CJ used in 1969-70 Mustangs and Cougars but... All I can tell you is that somebody wanted it . For those who are restoring a car originally equipped with smog it is very desirable. In fact I think it's required if your car was sold in California and is still in that state. I'm pretty damned sure that the Cali folks will red tag your beloved pony if you pull the emissions off of it. I don't like smog equipment any more than you do, but then again I don't really like spring yellow 65-66 coupes either. I wouldn't hardly throw either one of them away. One man's trash is another mans treasure and I was simply encouraging the guy to save the original parts he removed. Dean

Are 66 Mustangs exempt from smog checks in California ? I was unaware of that. I know that my 79 F-150 that I bought from California last year was being inspected annually.

If the guy wants to take the smog stuff off let him, if he wants to throw it in a dumpster let him. He'll regret it later but thats his problem. Its fine for you to state your opinions but try not to put somebody elses vehicle or opinion down in the process
