I was vacuuming out my wife's convertible yesterday and to make it easy on one area I was going to put the top up. Well I started the car, pulled up the brake, lowered the windows, flipped the bars on the side and pushed the switch in. The top moved about a half an inch and stopped. I checked everything again and still wasn't able to get the top up. When I pressed the switch the lights would dim a little and I could hear the engine go "more idle".

I mentioned it to my wife and she was upset because it's getting into her top down time. So my question is what is usually included in getting this fixed? How is the top opened and closed? Is it from a motor, fuse, etc? I didn't hear any grinding noises. My wife did still some sweet tea around the convertible switch a few months ago and she thought she got it all up. When I was pushing down on it it did stick the first couple of times.

Any help/info would be appreciated. If you can also give a rought estimate of costs that would be even better.

Yes we are. My wife hasn't called the dealership where she bought the car yet. It's got close to 70k miles on it so it's out of warranty.
