Trunk lid hinge 89 Convertible

The trunk hinge broke and I'm trying to replace it. I can't figure out if I need to work behind the back seat and take the convertible top off just to take the hinge out. Any suggestions?

You don't have to take the top out just put it down and you should be able to reach it from there, the pin on mine broke so i drilled a hole and put a new pin in and J B Welded it back good as new.
