Need a new top for my 97
I've got a 97 that needs a new top. The headliners fine and the window is good and already tinted so I don't need to replace it. I'm trying to decide on what top to buy and if I can install it myself.
Theres a few holes that are patched in the top but I think it shrunk from being sun baked too which is causing the sides to sag and not let the doors close with the window all the way up.
Is this common or would that the frame is bent?
I'm trying to decide between these

or if anyone else has any ideas

Pk222,
The top job isn't something many people should try themselves. That said, when people come to my shop for an install that they bought online, some are astonished that I won't install it for $150.
The first online company sells Electron tops. They are good quality tops, as long as you don't need to use the warranty. I have been told on a couple of occasions by Electron that they wouldn't warranty the convertible top that I sent in for warranty service. That's fine, but I'm never going to sell another Electron top to a customer who's paying me good money for a top that has a warranty.
The second online company selling tops doesn't say whose brand of top they are going to sell you, BUT, they are selling you a top that is different than the texture that came on your car (Sailcloth), this company is selling you a top made of pinpoint vinyl. Still a good quality vinyl, just different. Pinpoint is the vinyl that came originally on the '83 to '94 Stang convertibles.
