Gauge face changes?
I bought a set of white face gauges for my 95 3.8 v6 coupe. The only problem is....they don't actually fit...so here is my question is there actually a way to change the color of the gauge face with outh breaking needles or buying a completely new gauge pod.
thanks
thanks
I dont think you have to worry about breaking needles because you said that you already purchased white face guages. They should have come with some little leavers that pull the needles off. I never heard of anyone painting the guages but I dont see it comming out very clean looking. You should take back your gauges and buy the ones that fit, its the only way I see you having something you like in the end.
they should slide over teh top of the stock gauges jus point the needles in the same direction and slip it over them so you wont hove to pull needles but if you have to pull needles jus use sum pliers grab around the base (the black part) and pull the stock gauges are glued on so rip thoise off but make sure you remove the little black pins that sitck out at 0 mphs and o rpms and the oil guage i also have a 95 3.8 i ahve a pic of the gaguse on take a look

Just be careful. I changed mine and when I started my car it said that I was going 125 mph and at 4K rpm. It took some time to get the whole thing to be accurate again but I think its worth it.
with a 03 GT you shouldn't of had that problem... just use the diagnostic option in the odometer and it'll give you a digital readout of your tach/speed/voltage/oil press/water temp/fuel level/etc.......
for a pre 99.... I'd give the advice of.... well..... good luck. Take careful note of where your water temp sits at when your at NOT (normal op temp) as well as your current fuel level/oil pressure when running/voltage when running/ and where your tach reads at idle and then change all the guages out. MOST white face kits don't have holes big enough so that you can just slide the faces on. Mine surely didn't... I just took my time and was paitient. The needles come off... stubbornly but they do with either the little tool the kit should come with or a salad fork... not dinner... use the smaller fork.... you'll thank me. The old face comes off rather easily since it's only glued on... and then you replace that face with your new one and then start the car and wait for NOT with your cluster installed and then carefully put your needles back on... After all that you'll realize that I haven't said anything about the speedometer... this is where you thank Ford for making it hard and have a buddy pace right in front of you at a certain speed and you very carefully put the needle on while driving and maintaining as close to exact distance and speed with your buddy... congrats, you have now completed your white face kit job.
