Default Saleen paint

The Saleen goes down to London tonight for a video shoot for a supercar run (www.candyrun.co.uk).

The organizers have asked for 100 supercars to be available to film a trailer for the TV programme and asked me to take the Saleen.
So set about he car removing some minor scratches and swirls it has picked up over the winter and at a few shows.
Boy......... Saleen paint is harder than Ford's............ Took some paint measurements all round the car and measured a thickness of 210 microns on thehood and 125 on the doors and trunk lid and other Ford panels. Couldnt take readings from the bumpers due to my paint thickness guage only measuring metal panels. Both front and back were extremely hard still though especially the top of the rear bumper.
Used Menzerna Intensive Polish 3.01 on all panels which after a couple of passes, removed all swirls and scratches. This cuts out 1500-2000 grain sanding marks. It has a cut of 3.5.
On the Saleen panels however, I had to break into the Powergloss S34Afrom Menzerna which has a cut of 5 and is the most abrasive of the Menzerna range. This took at least 2 to 3 passes to remove the scratches and only reduced the paint depth by 4-6 microns to 200microns thick.
Followed this all up with Final Finish 106FF. This left the paintwork very glossy and made the metallic pop....
Then a couple of coats of Victoria Wax Concours Paste had the paint looking very wet.

Will post a few pictures once the film has finished tonight after the run.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Nothing like the cut of Powergloss and the finish of 106ff.
I'm liking the High Temp Extreme Cut mixed 1:1 with Optimum Polish.
Aggressive yet finishs down nice enough that a final polish might not be needed.
