Default RE: wheel detailing

ORIGINAL: Gonzo04

Haven't had my chrome wheels that long but, isWindex bad for chrome wheels?
I've heard that you can treat chrome like glass so it should be good. All I use on my chrome wheels is my detail spray and a microfiber. During the winter I pull them off and hit them with a good coat of CHROME POLISH, but during the cruising months its just the detail spray and a micro.

The person that said Simple Green - based on your avatar your wheels appear to be painted silver and probably clear coated. That is fine, but I would not use simple green on chrome, and definitely not on polished aluminum. Chrome does not need anything beyond a mild soap and water. If they are heavily corroded, stained, etc....you first need to make sure you are indeed dealing with chrome and not polished aluminum. Chrome is a very smooth finish that really doesn't "build-up" much of anything - unless of course neglegted for years. A lot of people confuse these two finishes, end up using the wrong products, and of course end up damaging the finish []
