Default Applying wax over decals

This isn't for my car, but a friends. He has a late model ram pickup he's putting eBay matte black bumblebee tail stripes on. I was wondering if it's ok for him to wax over a decal in the first place? Should he wait a month or something for the decal to fully bond. What would wax over a matte decal look like anyways, I'm banking on either semi-gloss or crappola. He said he just uses standard meguiars carnuba wax, "number 3" which i assume is the 3rd step of that 3 step system they have.

Just curious and this has been a pretty solid forum for detailing questions.

Thanks for your time.

If that's a fairly flat or matte decal, I'd recommend the use of one of the synthetic waxes and you should be just fine -- test in an inconspicuous area first and let it "cure" for a couple of days to be sure it won't chalk or haze.

Certainly don't use abrasive cleaners on the decal, or if you do use carnauba-based wax, avoid those with cleaners.
