Default Having front bumper painted again

I have a bunch of rock chips in my front bumper and I'm going to have it painted again. I don't know how many coats of base they put on before the cleared it, but I don't want it to chip again from driving around town and whatever short highway rides I may take.

I understand it's going to chip regardless, but how many coats of base & clear should I specify I want? My buddy was telling me I should ask for 2 coats of black and 3-4 coats of clear.

I've got 3 coats of base and 3 or 4 coats of clear (memory fails me) and the few little chips I have show right through. You may want to invest in that 3M Clear Bra as well, should save you having it painted down the road again. I've got one on the front of my grand prix, and there's no damage anywhere the thing is, but in the leading edge where it isn't applied it has a few chips, so it works.

Yeah I actually have a couple rolls of the 3M clear bra. I'll have that put on when it's done and cured.
