Wanting to paint Black
Wanting to paint my Stang black this summer if possible but i cant find a good shop to do here in ohio... most places here are having soecials for $500 paint jobs.. and to be honest i dont want a cheap paint job for my stand i was quality.. anyone recommend a shop that would be in ohio area or know of a chain that does them?.. also how long would the car be out of business waiting for all to be done. I just see so many people with poorly painted cars and i cant do that to me stang
well, you could be looking at a couple months and a couple grand if you are going to completely repaint the car. that would include everything, the engine bay, the inside of the doors, the inside of the trunk, etc. a complete repaint is the best way to go if you stand for quality because you won't be able to open the door and notice the color your car used to be. im not sure about the ohio area though. just some food for thought from what ive heard and seen in that aspect!!
My recommendation: Don't do it!! Black is the most horrible color to maintain. It shows absolutely everything. Every water spot, fingerprint, scratches- there's like a million different kinds of them and how they possibly occur. My personal favorite is when some little 8 yr. old turd kid writes "wash me" with his finger on your hood; you have to colorsand and buff that crap out. Don't get me wrong, I think black is an absolutely gorgeous color for a car. But to me it's only that beautiful when it's clean, which lasts all of about 2 hours before you notice dust settling on your car.
Either way, to have a paint job done correctly is very costly, maybe $2-3K on the low end. All panels (like bumper covers, rocker panels, etc.) removed and painted individually, all trim (mirrors, door handles, emblems, window mouldings, etc.) removed, some interior panels removed to paint jambs at doors and decklid, not to mention engine bay. That's just me, though; I couldn't do a complete color change and leave any evidence of the prior color.
I'd stay with that silver if you can. It's probably about the most forgiving color; looks good even after sitting outside without a wash for 2 weeks; pretty much the exact opposite of black.

dam... i didnt even think about the inside of the doors and what not... and yeah the black would show... and i figured a good one would be at least 2k... but out for that long would be a no go for me. thanks for the food for thought all!
