Default shift **** problem

Just got an AM shift **** and was having a problem taking the old shift **** off. I could twist it counter clockwise but it takes all my strength and finally it seems to have nothing left to give, almost like this would be tightening it.

figured, what the hell and went clockwise, same thing. i know these are simple twist off ***** but what gives? any suggestions?

im assuming this is for your 94... the ***** are very fine threaded, so its really hard to break loose, but after you do it feels like its freely spinning, but it really needs to spin about 20 times before it finally comes off and you can screw the new one one.

well if it feels super tight even after turning it a couple times, there is a possibility that it could have been cross threaded previously and its just gonna be a PITA to get off.
