Boyd Coddington Rims
My friend has a set of Boyd Coddington Smoothie II rims that are a pain to get clean. They have what seem to be water spots that wont come off, we have tried basically every polish we could find but cannot get them shining like they were when they were new, any ideas?
If the wheels are polished then I know what ur taliking about. The only way to get that off is if u actually buff it out, I had that on my wheels when I got them and used polish and used a buff wheel and it came off.... so maybe try that cuz that was the only thing that worked for me and I tried a few polishes
I have seen several sets of these on some really nice looking cars. But the wheels look like crap. They seem to chip and scratch very easily. I have yet to see any that look good after they've been on a while. My guess is that they have real problems with the finish. You may try a polish like Meguiars step 1 or #7 but with the poor finish it could do more damage than good.
I agree with Jimmz. The rims are just polished aluminum. The only way to get the water spots out is to buff them out. I used to work for the company that makes the rims that Boyd uses to put his centers in. They take the raw aluminum rims, weld in the center and them polish them with polishing compounds, by hand. You need to use some abrasive compound to get the spots out, then polishing compound to get the brightness back.
