Default Ignition key cylinder removal on a 65? (My latest *WHOOPS*)

Lost my only set of keys to the Mustang. Well, I put them on the table, and stuff got moved, and now they are hiding. Grr.

Anyway, does anyone know how to get the ignition key cylinder out from the dash? I never lock the car, so ill just hotwire it with the cylinder out untill I find them.

to remove it, you must turn it to the ACC and stick a paper clip or something in the hole, but since you lost the keys, you probably have to get a Locksmith to make you a key or something.

If you know anyone who has an old ford, ie. 57-65 truck or car, you might borrow their key and try it, you'd be surprised how many of them will actually work...

Good luck,
Vern

Great finds, Allen. Since this subject comes up so often, this will be a sticky at the top.

hot wireing isnt that bad of an option. if you unscrew the instrument pannel u can get right in there and there are a whole bunch of wires find a repair manual with wire color codes. if your cars kinda raced out it would look good to have a starter on a spring loaded push buttion switch mounted on the dash. my friend also while he was in there created an engine cutoff switch which he hid in the car so that even if omeone had the key the engine wouldnt start unless they fliped the switch
