That is completely incorrect. The "My Subscription" link is where you go to manage all the subscription emails that you may or may not have setup.
For example, if you wanted to receive an email everytime a new message was posted in the "Member Group Buys" forum, you would go to the "My Subscription" page and check the box next to the "Members and Group Buys" forum.
