Default Tire Pressure

my tires say 44psi max and iam going to be having a PACKED trunk and back seat and passenger for a a 800 mile trip. I would guess i have an extra 300- 400 lbs more then normal. right now my tire pressure is about 32-35psi is this ok? or should i run it at the full 44psi.

i always run run my tires 2lbs less than max. better feel of the road and tire reports don't ever really say anything bad about max pressure just under inflated. and yes better gas mileage

You should ALWAYS have the tire pressure set to the vehicle's settings. It's either on the door jam, or in your manual.

look at a high performance tire at 32lbs and then at 44lbs then tell me which pressure looks better? 32lbs feels like your riding around on mush let alone in looks like its flat.

ok, my sidewall says 44 as well, but I keep them at 35 and it is wearing the tread perfectly across the whole tire.. I personally wouldn't put the MAX because when you are driving, the air heats up, and expands, thus putting more pressure in the tires, which would put you past the max recommend by the tire..
